British Airways Strike Costs 7 Million GBP Daily

Flight attendants are one of the backbones to an airline. In a three day strike, British Airways reports to have lost 21 million GBP, which is exactly 7 million GBP per day. British Airways website reported that at 4:00pm GMT time, 238 out of 691 flights had been cancelled throughout 11 major airports around the nation.
Heathrow's Terminal 5, BA's main base, was noticeably quieter than usual and the cabin crew union, Unite, said the stoppage had hit BA hard. The full extent of the first stoppage will become clear during the week, when the airline is expected to release official details of how many flights were cancelled throughout the three-day dispute. Over the weekend, BA said it had operated 273 of its long haul flights, equivalent to 78 per cent of the total and 442 short haul flights, just under 60 per cent of the normal timetable.
Passengers face further disruption this week because the dispute will have left many aircraft and crew in the wrong place. BA expects to announce its timetable for the rest of the week today. However a spokesman admitted "there will be gaps". If a second stoppage, planned over four days this weekend, proves as costly as the first, it will have cost nearly 50 million GBP.

Then i came across a statement that was issued by one of the flight attendants, and she said she's surviving with 13,000 GBP basic salary. My question is "that is a monthly salary because if it is, then you are getting paid alot more than what you think! Actually no cabin crew is paid that much, and to top it off, Why are you on Strike again?

  1. Thats almost 7500 OMR per month, and damn, that's just too much, as in a General manager in any position can't get all that here in Oman.
